Kentucky’s Pregnancy Care Centers to hold 7th annual retreat
Volunteers meet again for a time of learning and fellowship
From, The Kentucky Citizen Digest, May/June, 2001.

For the seventh straight year the Pregnancy Care Centers in the state are holding their annual conference.  The May 4 - 5 event will be held on beautiful Lake Cumberland at the Kentucky Leadership Center in Jabez, Kentucky.  More than  half of the over 30 centers that are scattered across the state are expected to be represented.  Featured will be a number of speakers who will  each address one of a variety of topics that face care centers.  Some of the specific topics include: developing an effective  abstinance education program; initiating and maintaining a medical clinic with ultrasound technololgy; administration of a maternity home; and adoption opportunities.

“The significance of the retreat is not simply found in the messages of the key speakers, but also in the exchange of ideas that the individual attendees share as they fellowship during the weekend,”  said Kent Ostrander, Executive Director of The Family Foundation, the host organization.

The theme this year is “Where we come from and where we are going.”  Speakers from various centers will address issues that focus on what each center can do to continue to grow and flourish.

In the past, volunteers have found this weekend very benificial and refreshing.

“I have found this conference to be very helpful on issues I come up against every time I’m at the Center,” said Pam Glenn, a regular attendee and Director of one of the three New Hope Centers in Northern Kentucky.  She added,  “It’s encouraging to be with other volunteers who are laboring in the same way and to see the good work being done all across the state.”
